Gay Painting 2

Gay was born on Staten Island, New York. Many years later, after raising her four children in New Jersey, she became a Real Estate Agent. She became interested in beading and designing jewelry for herself, family, and friends. Until one evening she took a watercolor class. She immeditately fell in love.

She continued to paint and her skill allowed her to become an award winning artist, including "Best in Show," whose style is essentially non-objective and abstract. Her work is multimedia.

Her art can be found in many private collections, and she has displayed and demonstrated in various public establishments and galleries throughout the United States and Whales. She has given public demonstrations at these locations as well.

Her experience as board member of the New Jersey Water Color Society, as "Member at Lodge," allowed her to be the Judge of Awards for the Full Members show, as well as the Associate Members shows.

She is an elected member of The National Association Of Women Artists, New Jersey Watercolor Society, Garden State Watercolor Society, Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, and signature member of the National Collage Society, and International Society of Experimental Artists. Gay is an associate member of the American Water Color Society.

Although always creative, her passion for painting allows her to have fun being adventurous, dramatic, and bold.

"My personal life has changed dramatically in the last few years. Sadly, I lost my eldest son to fatal fall on September 4, 2013. In January 2014, I was diagnosed with third stage peritoneal cancer from which I am a cancer survivor. How lucky am I? I am truly blessed! I am now doing my best to get back into my world of art. No more will I struggle to make a painting without a piece of paper or texture for an 'upcoming juried show.' I am freeing myself of all pressures."

To continue, “I’m simply in love with color and feel; it’s a wonderful way to express myself. I then begin a conversation with paint, brush, paper, mind and heart. In other words, my creative imagination. It’s who I am at the moment. I strive to make my paintings more than just pretty; I wish for my viewers to find their own intriguing world through my eyes!”

Gay lives with her husband Emil in Somerset, New Jersey.
